Association of Fine Arts and Performing Arts

History

Association of Fine Arts and Performing Arts was established since 1951 in the University of Yangon.

Aims

  • To conduct the fine arts and performing arts which upgrade the physical and mental abilities of the University Students
  • To create the enjoyable surrounding (Recreation Centre) where the students can study well with full of delights
  • To celebrate the competitions on Singing, Dancing, Performing Music, Literature, Arts of Painting
  • To collect and maintain the musical instruments in accordance with University
  • To participate in creating a cleaning and greening camp University Campus with the view of fine arts

Biography of Head of Arts Association

Dr Khin Saw New J, Professor, Department of History has been taking duties as the Head of Association of Fine Arts and Performing Arts, University of Yangon since 2009.

She was awarded to be a singer of modern song by the Myanmar Broadcasting Service, Rangoon in 1972. Then, she published a series of stereo songs entitled "A sincere girl from Amaya Hall" with LPJ music band in 1982.

Qualification of Members

Post-graduates, under-graduates, Diplomas students and academic staff who are interested in Performing Arts are members of this association in the University of Yangon (2009 to date).

Regular Activities in a Year

  • Competition on Physical Culture in collaboration with National Management College
  • Myanmar National Races' Traditional Performing Arts Competition in Higher Education Level
  • Training on Performing Arts for the students such as Gabyalut (a Myanmar basic dance solely accompanied by rhythmic beats (ie without lyrics), Playing Xylophone, Traditional Dance of National Races, etc.

Other Activities

  • Participating in the ceremony of Carrying Buddha Relic Respectfully from the Republic of China
  • Competition of Sports and games in University Level
  • Performing Concert by the joint collaboration of Association of Fine Arts and Performing Arts and Vitoria Entertainment Company Ltd.

International Collaboration

  • Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSAYP) (2011, 2012)
  • Rabindranath Tagore 150th Birth Anniversary Celebration
  • Joint activity with Japanese Students in Kizuna Project (5th Feb 2013)
